This Cookie Policy explains how Sway for Future LLC ("Sway for Future," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website at swayforfuture.com (the "Website"). This Cookie Policy should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy, which provides more comprehensive information about how we handle personal data. By continuing to use our Website, you consent to our use of cookies as described in this policy, unless applicable law requires a different approach to obtaining your consent, in which case we will implement an appropriate consent mechanism.

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, smartphone, or other device with internet browsing capability) when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used by website operators to make their websites work more efficiently, to provide a better user experience, and to collect information about how the website is being used.

Cookies are stored on your device by your web browser and contain information such as a unique identifier for your browser, the name of the domain that placed the cookie, the duration of the cookie (whether it expires when you close your browser or remains for a specified period), and any values associated with the cookie. When you return to a website that has previously set a cookie on your device, the website can read the cookie and use its stored information to recognize your browser or device.

Cookies perform a variety of functions depending on their type and purpose, ranging from enabling basic website functionality (such as keeping you logged in during a session) to providing website operators with analytical data about how their sites are being used. Some cookies are set by the website you are visiting directly, while others are set by third-party services that provide features or functionality to that website.

It is important to understand that cookies themselves do not typically contain personal information. However, personal information that we store about you may be linked to information contained in or obtained from cookies, and this combined information may be treated as personal data under applicable privacy laws.

2. Why We Use Cookies

Sway for Future uses cookies and similar technologies for several purposes that collectively help us provide a functional, secure, and useful website experience. These purposes include:

Essential Functionality: Some cookies are strictly necessary to enable you to navigate our Website and use its features. Without these cookies, certain features of the Website cannot be provided. For example, these cookies are necessary to remember information you have entered in a form as you move between pages within a single session, to ensure the security of your browsing session, and to maintain the basic technical operation of the Website.

Performance and Analytics: We use cookies to collect information about how visitors use our Website, including which pages are visited most frequently, how long visitors spend on each page, and where visitors come from before arriving at our site. This information helps us understand the effectiveness of our content, identify areas where the user experience can be improved, and make informed decisions about how to develop and maintain the Website.

Functionality and Preferences: We use cookies to remember choices you make during your visit to our Website, such as your preference settings, and to provide you with enhanced and personalized features based on those preferences. These cookies are not strictly necessary for the Website to function but improve the quality of your experience.

Security: We use cookies to help us identify and prevent fraudulent activity, unauthorized access, and other security risks. Security cookies play an important role in protecting both you and Sway for Future from threats including unauthorized login attempts and cross-site request forgery attacks.

3. Types of Cookies We Use

3.1 Essential Cookies

Essential cookies (also called strictly necessary cookies) are cookies that are required for the basic operation of our Website. These cookies do not require your consent under most applicable laws because they are technically necessary to provide the service you have requested. Examples include cookies that maintain session state, cookies that prevent cross-site request forgery attacks, and cookies that enforce security policies. Without these cookies, the Website cannot function as intended, and some features or pages may be unavailable.

We do not permit any advertising or tracking functionality in our essential cookies. Essential cookies are set exclusively by Sway for Future (first-party cookies) and do not share data with third-party services for advertising or tracking purposes.

3.2 Analytics Cookies

Analytics cookies collect information about how you and other visitors use our Website, including which pages you visit, how long you spend on each page, what links you click, and where you were before you came to our Website. This information is used in aggregated, anonymized form to help us understand Website usage patterns and improve the Website's content, structure, and user experience.

We use Google Analytics to collect and analyze Website usage data. Google Analytics uses cookies to track user interactions with the Website and transmits the collected data to Google's servers in the United States. We have configured our Google Analytics implementation to anonymize IP addresses before they are transmitted to Google, which means that Google does not receive your full IP address. We have also configured our implementation to disable advertising features, data sharing with other Google products, and user ID tracking. For more information about how Google uses data from partner sites, visit Google's Privacy and Terms at policies.google.com.

You may opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. You can also control analytics cookies through your browser settings or our cookie preference tool as described in Section 8.

3.3 Functionality Cookies

Functionality cookies enable the Website to remember choices you make, such as your preferred language, region, font size, or other customization settings. These cookies provide a more personalized experience and can save you time by not requiring you to repeatedly enter the same preferences. Functionality cookies do not track your browsing activity on other websites.

3.4 Security Cookies

Security cookies help protect you and the Website from security threats. These cookies are used to detect and prevent fraudulent activity, secure authentication processes, protect against cross-site scripting and cross-site request forgery attacks, and enforce our terms of service. Security cookies are essential for maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of communications between your browser and our Website servers.

4. Cookie Details Table

The following table provides specific information about the cookies currently used on our Website. We will update this table when we add or remove cookies from our Website.

We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site behavioral tracking cookies, social media cookies, retargeting cookies, or any other cookies that track your activities across multiple websites for commercial purposes. We do not sell or share cookie data with advertisers or data brokers.

5. First-Party vs Third-Party Cookies

Cookies can be set either by the website you are visiting (first-party cookies) or by third-party services that provide functionality or content to that website (third-party cookies). First-party cookies are set by Sway for Future directly and can only be accessed and read by our Website. Third-party cookies are set by external parties that provide services such as analytics, functionality features, or content delivery to our Website.

The majority of cookies on our Website are first-party cookies set by Sway for Future. The only third-party cookies we currently use are Google Analytics cookies, which are set by Google and subject to Google's privacy policy. We have configured Google Analytics to minimize data sharing and to anonymize IP addresses. We do not use cookies from social media platforms, advertising networks, or data aggregators.

6. Session vs Persistent Cookies

Cookies can also be classified based on their duration. Session cookies are temporary cookies that are stored in your browser's memory only for the duration of your browsing session. They expire automatically when you close your browser or tab. Session cookies are used to enable basic Website functionality within a single visit, such as maintaining form data between pages and enforcing security measures.

Persistent cookies are stored on your device for a specified period of time (which can range from hours to years) or until you manually delete them. Persistent cookies are used for purposes that require information to be retained between separate visits to the Website, such as remembering your preference settings, recognizing your browser for analytics purposes, and storing your cookie consent choices.

All persistent cookies on our Website have clearly defined expiration dates as set out in the Cookie Details Table in Section 4. We do not set persistent cookies with excessively long expiration periods. Our longest persistent cookies are our analytics cookies set by Google Analytics, which have a maximum lifespan of two years.

7. Similar Technologies

In addition to cookies, we may use other technologies that function similarly to cookies to collect information about your use of the Website. These include:

Web Beacons and Pixel Tags: Web beacons (also called pixel tags or clear GIFs) are tiny, invisible graphics embedded in web pages or emails. When your browser or email client loads a page or email containing a web beacon, the technology automatically transmits certain information to the server hosting the beacon, including your IP address, browser type, and the time you loaded the page or email. We use web beacons in our emails to understand open rates and click-through rates. You can prevent web beacons in emails from functioning by disabling image loading in your email client.

Local Storage: Web browsers provide a local storage mechanism that allows websites to store data locally in your browser, similar to cookies but with greater storage capacity and without an automatic expiration date. We may use local storage to improve Website performance and provide a better user experience. You can clear local storage data through your browser's developer tools or privacy settings.

Session Storage: Session storage is similar to local storage but is cleared automatically when you close your browser tab. We may use session storage for temporary functionality purposes, such as maintaining the state of interactive elements within a single page session.

8. How to Manage Your Cookie Preferences

You have several options for managing cookies and similar technologies used on our Website:

8.1 Browser Settings

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can configure your browser to refuse all cookies, accept all cookies, or to notify you when a cookie is being sent. The specific process for managing cookie settings varies by browser. Here are instructions for the most common browsers:

  • Google Chrome: Go to Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Cookies and other site data. You can manage cookie settings, block third-party cookies, or clear all cookies.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Go to Options (or Preferences on Mac), then Privacy and Security. Under Cookies and Site Data, you can manage cookie settings and clear existing cookies.
  • Apple Safari: Go to Preferences, then Privacy. You can prevent cross-site tracking and manage all cookies stored by websites you have visited.
  • Microsoft Edge: Go to Settings, then Privacy, Search, and Services. Under Cookies and Site Permissions, you can manage how cookies are handled.
  • Opera: Go to Settings, then Advanced, then Privacy and Security. You can manage cookie settings under Content Settings.

Please note that disabling cookies in your browser may affect the functionality of our Website and other websites you visit. If you block all cookies, including essential cookies, certain features of our Website may not work correctly.

8.2 Opt Out of Google Analytics

If you specifically want to prevent Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits to our Website, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, which is available free of charge from Google at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. This add-on prevents Google Analytics JavaScript from sharing information with Google Analytics about visits to all websites you access using your browser.

8.3 Network Advertising Initiative and Digital Advertising Alliance Opt-Outs

Although we do not use advertising cookies, you can opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies through the Network Advertising Initiative's opt-out tool at optout.networkadvertising.org or the Digital Advertising Alliance's opt-out tool at optout.aboutads.info. These tools allow you to opt out of interest-based targeting from many advertising companies simultaneously.

8.4 Do Not Track Settings

Some browsers have a "Do Not Track" feature that signals to websites that you do not want to be tracked. For more information about our response to Do Not Track signals, please see Section 9 below.

8.5 Mobile Device Settings

If you access our Website through a mobile device, you can manage cookie and tracking settings through your device's operating system settings. On iOS devices, go to Settings, then Safari (or your mobile browser), then Privacy and Security. On Android devices, the settings location varies by browser and device model, but can typically be found in the browser's Settings menu under Privacy or Security.

9. Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers transmit "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals to websites, indicating that the user does not wish to be tracked. Currently, there is no universally accepted standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals, and the technology for honoring DNT signals is still evolving. As a result, we do not currently respond to browser-generated DNT signals in a different way than we respond to users who do not transmit DNT signals.

However, we want to be transparent about our practices: we do not use tracking cookies for advertising or retargeting purposes, and we do not share your browsing data with third parties for advertising purposes, regardless of whether you transmit a DNT signal. Our use of analytics cookies is limited to internal analytics for the purpose of improving our own Website and is not shared with advertising networks or data brokers.

We will continue to monitor developments in DNT standards and industry practices and will update our practices if and when a clear standard emerges. If you want to ensure that your visits to our Website are not tracked by analytics services, we recommend using the opt-out mechanisms described in Section 8 rather than relying solely on DNT signals.

10. Consequences of Disabling Cookies

You can choose to disable some or all cookies through your browser settings or our cookie management tools. However, please be aware that disabling cookies may impact the functionality and user experience of our Website in the following ways:

If you disable all cookies: Our Website may not function correctly. You may not be able to submit contact forms or pitch applications, navigate between pages without re-entering information, access all content on our Website, or use any interactive features of the Website.

If you disable analytics cookies only: Our Website will continue to function normally, but we will not be able to collect data about how you use the Website. This means we will be less able to optimize the Website based on usage patterns and may not be able to detect technical errors affecting your experience.

If you disable functionality cookies only: Our Website will continue to function, but we will not be able to remember your preferences between visits. You may need to re-enter preferences each time you visit the Website.

Disabling cookies does not delete cookies that have already been stored on your device. To remove stored cookies, you will need to clear your browser's cookie storage as described in the browser settings instructions in Section 8.1.

11. Cookies and Children

Our Website is not directed to children under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children through cookies or any other means. If you believe that a child under 18 has submitted personal information to us through our Website or that our cookies have been placed on a device used primarily by a child under 18, please contact us at privacy@swayforfuture.com so that we can take appropriate steps to address the situation.

Parents and guardians who are concerned about their children's online privacy should be aware that most web browsers include parental control features that can restrict cookie placement and other tracking activities. For guidance on available parental controls, consult your browser's documentation or a trusted internet safety resource.

12. Updates to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use, changes in applicable laws or regulations, or changes in our Website's functionality. When we make changes to this Cookie Policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. If the changes are significant, we may provide more prominent notice, such as a notification on our Website's homepage or, where we have your email address and where required by law, a notification by email.

We encourage you to review this Cookie Policy periodically to stay informed about our use of cookies. Your continued use of our Website after any changes to this Cookie Policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. If you do not accept the updated policy, please cease using our Website and contact us if you wish to exercise any applicable data rights.

The current version of this Cookie Policy is always accessible through the link in our website footer. Previous versions of this Cookie Policy are available upon request by contacting privacy@swayforfuture.com.
